From a love for literature and art to a love for elephant hat dance

Jin Mingchun was born in Jixiang Village, Baicaogou Town, Wangqing County, Jilin Province. He has loved singing and dancing since he was a child. In 1977, after graduating from high school, Jin Mingchun did not take the college entrance examination, but joined the amateur propaganda team of the Baicaogou Commune Production Brigade, playing hole flutes, performing sketches, and speaking crosstalk in the propaganda team, and was very skilled in everything. Later, Kim Mingchun became a disciple of folk artist Lee Myung-ho, and for the first time formally learned the basic skills and conventional throwing methods of elephant hat dance. After that, he began to participate in the performance of elephant hat dance, creation and choreography.

In 1977, the elephant hat at that time made an aluminum basin into the shape of a hat, and the brim of the hat was used as a paper shell. The string of beads on the top of the elephant hat were stringed with beads on the old abacus, and the elephant hat pole was replaced by spokes of the bicycle ring. Finally, it was fixed to the pole on the top of the elephant hat with a paper strip on the window. In this way, the elephant hat is made. Jin Mingchun said that after he came into contact with the elephant hat dance, he was first deeply attracted by the elephant hat prop, and since then he fell in love with the elephant hat dance, and then engaged in the elephant hat dance major. He has been doing it for more than 40 years. He has already regarded inheriting the elephant hat dance as his lifelong career.

Keep up with the times, and has been committed to innovation for more than 40 years

For 42 yearsKomiks. Jin Mingchun never relaxed training. He practiced hard and continuously improved his performance skills. At the same time, he was brave enough to innovate. According to Jin Mingchun, the first generation of elephant hats he made were hats made of aluminum basins, the second generation was paper-paste elephant hats, the third generation was glass Babaylan FRP elephant hats, and the fourth generation was resin elephant hats that have been used until now. “In the 1990s, I made fiberglass elephant hats because I saw the safety helmet worn by construction workers. This fiberglass elephant cap is used after it is old and can be repainted. Unlike the previous paper-paste elephant cap, it can no longer be used due to sweating or other reasons after using it for a while. “Jin Mingchun said, “But because the glass reflects, the fiberglass elephant hat looks unnatural under the stage lights, so I didn’t use it later. It has been changed to a resin elephant cap and has been used until now. ”

Kim Mingchun’s innovation in the elephant hat dance is reflected in the improvement of props, but also in the keeping pace with the times. In order to improve the ornamentality of the elephant hat dance, Kim Mingchun has added many modern elements to the elephant hat dance performance form, integrating martial arts, street dance and ballet into it. In terms of elephant hat dance skills, the “flat swing” and “left swing” that were only in the past, Cinema has developed into “shaking swing”, “flying swing”, “stand swing”, “spinning swing”, “spinning swing”, “spinning swing”, “crazy swing”, etc. This <a In addition to Cinema, he has also innovated many elephant hat dance moves, such as drilling circles, rotating the zither, turning the body, climbing the steps, sweeping the legs, etc.

At present, Jin Mingchun can swing the multi-layer elephant hat ribbon 32 meters long, which also makes him the only actor in the country and even the world who can swing the 32-meter elephant hat ribbon. Jin Mingchun mentioned that the ribbon is made of gold Babaylan. The 32-meter multi-layer ribbon is not light, and the ribbon is swung upCinema will surround the body after coming, which will test the dancer’s comprehensive skills and is very difficult.

What is inherited is not just the elephant hat dance, but national culture. The rural music dance is the traditional cultural heritage of the Korean people. It is a kind of good wish for the Korean people to pray for a good harvest, yearn for happiness, and integrate into nature in the form of dance. In 2009, the Korean agricultural music and dance in China was included in the “Catalogue of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”, which is the only dance-related world intangible cultural heritage project in my country so far.

Babaylan Music and dance are mainly divided into different forms, styles and movements such as hand-camp, long drum, flat drum dance, and elephant hat dance. The elephant hat dance among them is the dance performed when the rural music dance reaches its climax, and is the highest expression of rural music dance.

According to Jin Mingchun, Wangqing County is the birthplace of the Korean agricultural music dance (elephant hat dance). From 2009 to the present, Wangqing County has taken “1+2” measures from three aspects to inherit and protect the Korean Korean farm music dance (elephant hat dance) Komiks. They are: build a brand, form two teams; establish a center, build two major bases and cultivate a group of backbone, and build two platforms. After ten years of continuous exploration, exploration, protection, innovation and development, Wang Qingnong Music and Dance has made breakthroughs in keeping pace with the times, both in terms of costumes and props, performance themes, forms and scales, and has achieved unprecedented brilliant achievements.

Jin Mingchun, as the fourth generation inheritor of Korean rural music and dance, organized two elephant hat dance art troupes affiliated to the county cultural center, namely the professional performance team “Wangqing County Elephant Hat Dance Art Troupe” and the original ecological performance team “The Elderly Agricultural Music and Dance (Elephant Hat Dance) Performance Team”.

They went to the United States, Russia, South Korea, Italy and other countries, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Xi’an, Zhangjiajie and other regions to participate in more than 30 large-scale international and domestic cultural exchanges.

Another teamWu, “The Elderly Agricultural Music and Dance (Elephant Hat Dance) Performance Team” performs 100-200 original agricultural music and dances for guests at the Agricultural Music and Dance Exhibition Hall every year, totaling more than 1,500; they have appeared in the “Qianzhou Agricultural Music and Dance Competition (2 times), “Jilin Provincial Farmers’ Literature and Art Competition (2010)” and “Beijing Longtan Temple Fair (2013)” and won gold medals.

With the support of the county government, Jin Mingchun has established 31 rural music and dance training bases of different levels and age structures, and has regularly held backbone training classes in each base to give full play to the functional role of backbone. He has trained more than 3,000 famous rural music and dance talents in the art troupe and county, and has cultivated a large number of elephant hat dance talents in the Yanbian Song and Dance Troupe, Yanbian University, Northeast Normal University, Jilin Provincial Song and Dance Troupe, Central Conservatory of Music, Central Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe, Korean Mass Art Museum in the Three East Provinces, and even domestic and foreign art stages.

Jin Mingchun said that at present, Wangqing County has developed 17 elephant hat dance training bases. Now, Wang Qing, from 80 years old to seven or eight years old, is learning elephant hat dance. At present, Jin Mingchun’s “apprentices” have reached more than a thousand. There will be rewards for hard work. Kim Mingchun himself has also won more than a dozen Babaylan awards, including the highest honor in the country’s dance. At the end of the interview, Jin Mingchun excitedly told reporters that when he went to Hainan for a while ago, the local people actually knew about the art form of elephant hat dance, which made Jin Mingchun very happy. He felt that his inheritance and popularization work was effective. He said with emotion, “The meaning of my inheritance is to display the farming culture of the Korean people and carry forward it. Therefore, what I inherit is not just the elephant hat dance, but the national culture. It is the national spirit. ” (China Youth Network reporter Zhang Liyan)
