Academician Lu is 89 years old this year and is the simple life of Grandpa Lu, who is well known to everyone around him. He rolled up his trousers and walked barefoot in the farmland, step by step to find the rice’s ancestor “wild rice”, and traveled all over Guangdong, Hainan and Jiangxi.
The collection of wild rice is very difficult, either in the mountains or in the barren swamps, but Luyonggen never gives up. Once, Academician Lu, who was over 70 years old, led a team to the top of a barren mountain in Fogang, Qingyuan to collect wild rice. He climbed halfway up the mountain. Academician Lu was already exhausted, but he still insisted on going up the mountain. The students had to support him and climb up slowly. The mountain road was rugged and steep, with wood and stone passing through the road, and it was extremely hard. After finally climbing to the top of the mountain, everyone was exhausted. Luckily, he finally found the precious wild rice. Seeing the growing environment of wild rice with one’s own eyes, Academician Lu, who was already extremely tired, was extremely excited.
